Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Tarar said governance failure was evident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and alleged that the provincial government had failed to prevent terrorism. He said the province received funds every year through the National Finance Commission (NFC) for counterterrorism efforts, yet major attacks had occurred in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan.
He urged the provincial government to set aside politics and focus on areas affected by terrorism. Tarar said discussion about imposing governor rule was premature, while alleging that healthcare, education and other sectors in KP had deteriorated.
He also accused the PTI government of failing to take effective measures against terrorism. “I have visited Kohat, Charsadda and Peshawar, and the governance failure is evident,” Tarar said, adding that he had also visited the home of Constable Faheemullah.

He said political activity could continue, but providing security to citizens should take priority. “People are losing their lives in KP; politics should not be more important than their lives,” he said. Tarar further alleged that the Afghan government was supporting terrorism, saying Pakistan had given a strong response and would continue to do so.
Regarding preventive detention, he said action under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO) law was being taken in accordance with the law.
