Judge Tahir Abbas Supra directed police to submit the challan at the earliest and adjourned the hearing until October 9. The case relates to the PTI protest in Islamabad on November 26. The government had adopted various measures to defuse the protest, including negotiations, offering an alternative protest venue and imposing restrictions and road blockades.
PTI leaders, however, alleged that the measures were aimed at preventing the march from reaching Islamabad and weakening the protest. The government maintained that the measures were necessary to maintain law and order and protect sensitive installations, while PTI disputed the government's account of the events.
The November 26 protest subsequently led to multiple cases against PTI leaders and workers.
