South Korea knock Pakistan out of Junior Asia Cup

The semi-final began cautiously, with neither side able to break the deadlock during the opening quarter. South Korea eventually took the lead six minutes into the second quarter when Seowon Park scored from open play.

They doubled their advantage five minutes later as Minhyeok Lee converted a penalty corner, putting Pakistan under significant pressure. Pakistan responded before the end of the quarter, with Nadeem Khan reducing the deficit by converting a penalty corner.

The goal gave Pakistan hope of mounting a comeback, but South Korea remained in control after the interval. Dohyeon restored South Korea's two-goal advantage in the 41st minute with another successful penalty corner, leaving Pakistan needing two goals to force their way back into the contest.

The forward then struck again seven minutes into the final quarter, completing his brace with another penalty corner conversion. Pakistan pushed forward in search of a response during the closing stages, but South Korea's defence held firm and prevented the Green Shirts from adding to their score.

The result ended Pakistan's hopes of lifting the Junior Asia Cup title and handed them their first defeat of the tournament. South Korea's victory means they will meet India in the final, while Pakistan and Malaysia will compete for the bronze medal on Sunday.

The final and bronze medal match will both be played at the Moqi Training Base in Hulunbuir.
