Updated On:Mon, 26 Oct 2026 12:54:46 PKTSaudi coalition says struck Houthi missile facilities in Yemen after Riyadh airport attack. The Saudi-led military coalition fighting Yemen's Houthis struck several of its missile launchers and storage facilities, a spokesperson said on Monday, while the group claimed a new attack on Riyadh's international airport.

The coalition's operation came a day after explosions rattled Saudi Arabia's capital and authorities sent text messages to residents warning them of a "hostile aerial threat" to the city, which has been heavily targeted by the Houthis in recent weeks.

The Saudi-led military coalition's spokesman Turki al-Maliki posted on X on Monday that the operation had destroyed four ballistic missile launchers, as well as a missile depot and tunnels used by the Houthis, who control a large part of Yemen. The operation "focused on cutting off Houthi militia supply lines between areas under their control," he added.

Top officials from the Makkah defence pact countries Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan are set to meet Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday to discuss regional coordination, two people with knowledge of the matter said, Reuters reported.

Saudi Arabia will be represented by Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, while top officials from Pakistan and Turkiye will also attend the meeting. The Saudi government media office and Pakistan's military media wing did not respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

The planned talks would be the first high-level contact between Iran and all members of the three-nation bloc since Saudi Arabia has come under escalating attacks from Yemen's Houthis. Saudi Arabia intercepted another wave of missiles and drones on Sunday as fighting with the militant group continued unabated.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Baqer Ghalibaf issued a strong warning over violations of Iran's territorial integrity, saying the country would deliver a response beyond what its adversaries could imagine. Ghalibaf described Iran as an independent and powerful regional force, asserting that foreign powers could not determine the country's future.

The US State Department has ordered some diplomats and family members to depart from its missions in Saudi Arabia and plans to withdraw family members from a number of other US missions in the region, US officials.

The order came as attacks in Saudi Arabia killed at least one person and injured eight others at a civilian airport in Dammam and two people were killed in a drone attack on an oil field.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said in a post on X that the department ordered the departure of "non-emergency US government employees and their family members in Saudi Arabia only" amid attacks by the Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen on civilian targets in the country.

Washington had returned some diplomatic personnel to the region in recent months after many were pulled out when Tehran launched attacks on US facilities after the US-Israeli war on Iran began in late February.

"Iranian-supported Houthis have increasingly engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions," Pigott ‌said. Four US officials in other Gulf states would also be ordering family members to leave.

Pigott did not address changes to other missions outside Saudi Arabia. The latest withdrawals follow an escalation of the fighting in Yemen, opening another front in the regional conflict triggered by the US-Israeli war on Iran.

The wider conflict has snarled global energy trade and hurt Gulf economies. After the departure order, Saudi Arabia's civil aviation authority reported an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam that killed one person and injured eight others.

Earlier in the day, two people were killed after Saudi air defences intercepted a drone that was attempting to hit a facility at Saudi Aramco's Shaybah oilfield, the energy ministry said. The US embassy in Riyadh issued a security alert on Wednesday about possible further attacks by the Houthis on Saudi Arabia, after recent deadly strikes including on Riyadh's airport.

The embassy and a CIA station hosted there came under attack by drones in early March, as Iran began launching attacks across the region.· Scroll to continue.
