Trucker attempts self immolation at DG Khan checkpost

The incident occurred on Monday evening at the checkpost, located on the entry route to Punjab. Police said the driver, identified as Musharraf, allegedly poured oil over himself and set himself alight. Police personnel present at the checkpost intervened, restrained the driver and extinguished the flames, preventing further injury.
Musharraf was initially shifted to the Teaching Hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan for medical treatment. Due to the severity of his burns, doctors referred him to the burn unit at Nishtar Hospital in Multan, where he was reportedly receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident were being investigated. Sarwar SHO Shehzad Afzal, Musharraf's younger brother, Anar Gul, who was travelling with him in the truck, previously attempted to harm himself. The police official said the family had been concerned about his mental condition and that,, he had apparently repeated the act.
