    IISLAMABAD Senior Pakistani actor Nauman Ijaz has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2024 and said reciting Surah Rahman played a major role in helping him recover. In a recent interview, the veteran actor opened up about his battle with cancer and shared details about the difficult period following his diagnosis.

    Nauman Ijaz said he was diagnosed with cancer near his ear in 2024. Recalling the day he received the diagnosis, he said he looked towards the sky during prayer and never wronged anyone or taken anyone’s rights.

    He said Allah sends people into the world for a purpose and prayed that if he was no longer needed, he should be called back immediately, adding that he did not want to see his family suffer.

    Nauman Ijaz said he also prayed that he did not want to make repeated trips to hospitals or undergo painful procedures such as chemotherapy. He said he would read extensively every night and go to sleep hoping that he would not wake up the following morning.

    The actor said that after news of his cancer became known, a close friend advised him to recite Surah Rahman. He said he had continued reciting the Surah from that day until now and believed it played a major role in saving him.

    Nauman Ijaz further said he subsequently underwent a successful operation and the tumour was removed. He said his first chemotherapy session was scheduled to begin on July 23, 2024, but doctors called him on July 22 and informed him that they had found nothing, meaning chemotherapy was no longer required.
