President Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif honor humanitarian workers on World Humanitarian Day

He specifically lauded the contributions of medical professionals, social workers, child protection advocates, and human rights activists, asserting that the collective responsibility of the state and society is to ensure that no individual is left without support during periods of extreme vulnerability.

The President further articulated that Pakistan remains dedicated to working in close coordination with the international community to advance humanitarian principles, ensuring that the protection of basic rights remains aligned with both the national Constitution and various international human rights agreements.

Complementing these sentiments, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the historical significance of the day, which is observed annually to honor the memory of the 22 humanitarian workers who lost their lives in the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad.

The Prime Minister remarked that this day serves as a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices made by those who operate in conflict-ridden and disaster-prone regions to alleviate human suffering.
