Karachi swelters at 40°C as rain clouds gather

The maximum temperature was recorded at 40.2°C, while humidity stood at 52 per cent. Northwesterly winds also blew parallel to the sea breeze during the day. the Pakistan Meteorological Department's Early Warning Centre, a low-pressure system that was earlier located over Chhattisgarh, India, has shifted to Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas and is likely to move west and northwest.
Under the influence of the weather system, Karachi is expected to receive intermittent light rain with thunderstorms on September 14 and 15.
The wider Sindh region is likely to experience intermittent rain, strong winds, dust storms and thunderstorms through September 15, with the possibility of moderate to heavy rain at isolated places in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan.

Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari and Jamshoro may receive light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister's Adviser on Rehabilitation Gianchand Essrani has directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Sindh Emergency Rescue Services 1122 and other relevant departments to remain on high alert following the weather advisory.
He ordered deputy commissioners, district disaster management authorities and concerned departments to complete preparations for any emergency, keep machinery and personnel ready, and continuously monitor low-lying areas, stormwater drains and vulnerable locations. Dewatering machinery and other emergency resources have also been ordered to remain fully operational.
