Addressing a national debate on the creation of new provinces in Islamabad, the federal minister said that a resolution for the establishment of Hazara Province had already been passed and that the Hazara Province movement enjoys support from political parties.

Sardar Muhammad Yousuf noted that Pakistan had a population of around 35 million at the time of its creation, while the country has continued to have only four provinces since independence. He said many of the problems facing the country today were not present six decades ago, adding that population growth naturally creates additional administrative requirements.

Drawing an analogy with family expansion, the minister said that as the number of family members increases, the need for new houses also arises. Similarly, he argued, growing populations can create a need for new administrative structures to better address people's problems.
