The tent was installed late on Wednesday on the instructions of newly appointed Federal Secretary for Health Mahmood Rai. It has been equipped with lighting and fans, while chairs have been arranged for visitors., Rai will visit the camp daily to review the situation at PIMS and personally listen to complaints from citizens.
The health secretary will also conduct daily reviews of the hospital’s administrative arrangements and available facilities, officials said. The move comes a day after a fire broke out in the nursery of PIMS’s gynaecology ward, killing 14 newborns.
The bodies of the infants were subsequently handed over to their families for burial.
