The statement said the incident once again supported Pakistan’s position that the Afghan Taliban regime had failed to prevent terrorist organisations from using Afghan soil and had instead facilitated and patronised cross-border terrorism. It added that the regime had consistently failed to fulfil its international counterterrorism obligations.

Security forces remain committed to defending the country’s borders, the statement said, adding that a sanitisation operation was under way to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored Khwarij present in the area.

It further said the counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country. The statement said the sacrifices of security personnel further reinforced Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the nation and its frontiers.
