Punjab approves recruitment of military personnel to monitor educational institutions

The MEOs will be hired on one-year contracts with a monthly salary of Rs60,000, along with other facilities and benefits available under the Education Department’s rules. Official motorcycles will also be provided to the officers for monitoring activities, while their contracts may be extended after one year.
The recruitment will be carried out under the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF). Applications have been invited from GCOs and NCOs until September 7. Candidates must be between 30 and 55 years of age, hold at least a graduation degree and have a Punjab domicile.
Experience in the IT sector and good physical fitness will also be required. In the first phase, 28 MEOs will be recruited, including 21 military personnel and seven civilians. Recruitment for other districts will be conducted in the second phase.

Meanwhile, the Education Department has decided to extend the contracts of around 150,000 School Teaching Interns (STIs) working on a temporary, daily-wage basis in schools across the province. A summary seeking Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s approval for a nine-month extension has been sent to the chief minister.
The extension will cover the ongoing academic session until March 2027. Officials said a notification regarding the extension would be issued once the summary receives approval.
