PPESHAWAR —The Peshawar High Court has sought a response from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in a case concerning the alleged use of government resources for political activities and a protest long march. A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice S.M.
Attiq Shah heard a petition filed by PML-N MPA Qari Zahir. The petitioner contended that the Peshawar High Court had barred the use of government resources for political activities in an important judgment issued in November 2025.
However, he alleged that Sohail Afridi reached Lakki Marwat by an official helicopter on October 4 at the start of the protest long march. The petition requested the court to take notice of the alleged use of government resources during the long march and seek an explanation from those responsible.

During the hearing, the court issued a notice to the KP chief minister and sought his response on the matter. The petition also cited an incident from October 2024, stating that Punjab Police had taken more than 10 government vehicles and 47 government officials into custody during a protest march towards Islamabad under former KP chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The court will decide further proceedings after receiving the chief minister’s response.
