    CGA, posts that have remained vacant for at least one year have been recommended for abolition in light of a decision taken by the federal cabinet on August 27, 2024. The directions clarify, however, that vacant posts allocated for transfers, postings and promotions will not be abolished.

    The abolished posts will be deducted from the quota allocated for initial appointments or direct recruitment,. All Financial Accounting Offices (FAOs) must review or prepare their vacancy rosters. The FAOs have also been instructed to process promotion cases accordingly.

    The communication containing the directions was issued with the CGA's approval. The CGA is the premier accounting office of the Government of Pakistan. It is entrusted with the task of producing accurate and timely financial statements for the federation.
