The department has instructed all concerned authorities, including those responsible for overseeing theatre performances, to strictly enforce the ban during the specified period. The action comes amid continued scrutiny of stage theatre productions in Punjab, where authorities have periodically taken measures against performances they consider to violate prescribed standards of decency and public entertainment.

The actresses named in the notification have been penalised administratively; the ban does not by itself establish criminal wrongdoing.
