He said, “Not even a flowerpot will be broken,” while emphasizing that the protest would be conducted without violence or damage to property. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said young people knew how to organize strikes and that Jamaat-e-Islami would approach traders across the country to persuade them to participate in the protest.
He appealed to traders not to listen to government “yes-men and sycophants” and said he would personally meet traders in Lahore to mobilize support for the strike. The Jamaat-e-Islami leader also criticized high electricity bills, saying electricity bills had become a “bomb” falling on the public.
