LLAHORE —Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has warned that those attempting to march on Islamabad will face strict consequences, saying the government will not allow the capital to be shut down for days.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said there would be no benefit in attempting to storm Islamabad and that the situation would not be allowed to develop as it had in the past, when the country remained affected for 10 to 20 days.
The interior minister said most members of the PTI leadership did not want to proceed with the long march. He urged them to reconsider their decision while there was still time and avoid entering what he described as a dead end from which there would be no way back.

Naqvi said such actions would not achieve anything and warned that the government would adopt a permanent course of action this time. The interior minister’s remarks come ahead of PTI’s announced September 27 protest and march towards Islamabad.
The Islamabad High Court has ruled that political parties cannot block roads, highways or government buildings, while the government has said it will enforce the court’s order. Naqvi had earlier said law enforcement agencies had been given clear instructions to prevent any attempt to enter Islamabad in violation of the court order.
He also urged political parties to hold peaceful protests in their respective cities and provinces.
