    Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government had formally requested the Senate to return the Pakistan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (PTRA) bill.

    She said the government would introduce a new and comprehensive version of the legislation after incorporating all essential provisions and addressing key issues., the bill was withdrawn as its 90-day legal period was nearing expiry. Had it remained pending, the legislation could have proceeded to a joint sitting of Parliament.

    However, she said there was currently no certainty about when a joint session would be convened, prompting the government to seek withdrawal of the bill from the Senate. Shaza Fatima said the decision was aimed at expediting the legislative process and avoiding unnecessary delays.
