Noreen Niazi gets permission to meet Imran Khan at Adiala Jail

She travelled to the prison in a personal vehicle belonging to Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan. The meeting comes amid continued restrictions and uncertainty surrounding access to Imran Khan, who remains incarcerated at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi in connection with multiple legal cases.

Imran Khan, who served as Pakistan’s prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has remained in jail for an extended period while facing several cases. His party and family members have repeatedly sought permission to meet him and raised concerns over restrictions on his access to legal counsel and family members.

Khan’s sisters, including Aleema Khan and Noreen Niazi, have frequently sought meetings with him and have been involved in efforts to raise issues concerning his legal proceedings and prison conditions.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday refiled a contempt of court petition concerning the hospital transfer of party founder Imran Khan after addressing an objection raised by the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office.

The petition, filed by Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, was initially returned after the Registrar’s Office objected that a list of allegations against the respondents accused of contempt had not been provided.

Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the party had met the Supreme Court registrar at the facilitation centre and was informed about the objection. He said the objection had now been addressed and the contempt petition had been filed again.

Gohar also requested that the petition be numbered and processed at the earliest so that the same bench could hear the matter on Thursday.
