    IISLAMABAD Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb has said Pakistan’s economy is being shifted from reliance on external assistance towards trade and investment, with the government focusing on sustainable economic growth. Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said cooperation between the government and the private sector was essential for economic development.

    He said the process of economic growth was linked to promoting investment and business activities. He said the government was taking steps to ensure sustainable development alongside economic stability. Aurangzeb said increasing exports, investment and productivity were among the government’s priorities.

    He added that export finance could play an important role in promoting the country’s exports, while creating a conducive environment for business and investment in Pakistan remained a government priority. The finance minister said the growth of the private sector would create new employment opportunities, adding that Pakistan’s economy was being moved from aid towards trade and investment.
