The latest adjustment comes just a day after fuel prices were raised significantly, adding further pressure on motorists and consumers. the Petroleum Division, petrol and diesel prices have both been increased by several rupees per litre. New fuel rates.
Petrol has become Rs5.58 per litre more expensive, taking its price to Rs364.35 per litre. The price of diesel has also been raised by Rs4.18 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs385.95 per litre.
The Petroleum Division said the revised prices will come into effect from September 9, 2026. However, the new rates will remain applicable for one day only,. The latest adjustment follows another increase announced just a day earlier.

On Tuesday, the government had raised the price of petrol by Rs12.90 per litre, while diesel had become Rs3.72 per litre more expensive. The successive increases mean motorists are facing a sharp rise in fuel costs within a very short period.
