    The Foreign Office described the incident as a serious violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life, and raised concerns about the protection of civilians under international law. It urged India to conduct an immediate, transparent and credible investigation into the incident and take appropriate legal and disciplinary action against those responsible.

    Islamabad also asked New Delhi to formally share the findings of the investigation and details of any action taken.

    The Foreign Office further called on India to respect fundamental human rights and international law, follow bilateral arrangements and established border procedures, exercise maximum restraint and take steps to prevent similar incidents in the future., the three civilians belonged to Ladhar village and had moved a few steps beyond a border pillar when the BSF personnel opened fire without warning.

    The men were unarmed. The deceased were identified as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar. The injured man was shifted to a hospital for treatment.

    Security sources said the three civilians had not attempted to cross the border fence, describing the incident as a violation of the agreement and standard operating procedures governing the international border.
