Pakistan welcomes UK restrictions on goods from illegal Israeli settlements

The Foreign Office said Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates had jointly welcomed the UK restrictions on imports as well as measures targeting services linked to illegal Israeli settlements.
In a joint statement, the eight countries called on the international community to adopt similar measures and take concrete steps to restrict trade with Israeli settlements. They also urged accountability for organisations and individuals involved in settlement activities.
Pakistan said the continued expansion of Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory constitutes a blatant violation of international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The Foreign Office also welcomed announcements by several other countries, including Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden, to consider similar measures against goods and activities linked to illegal Israeli settlements. Pakistan expressed hope that such steps would send a clear message rejecting what it described as illegal actions in the occupied Palestinian territories.

It reaffirmed that Gaza remains an integral part of the Palestinian territory and stressed the need for security, stability, humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in the enclave. Pakistan reiterated its support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and called for the establishment of a sovereign, independent and contiguous Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The eight countries said a two-state solution remains the only viable path to lasting and comprehensive peace in the region.
