Federer’s wife, Mirka, introduced him at the ceremony. As he walked onto the stage, he embraced and kissed her before beginning his speech. During his nearly 30-minute address, the former world No. 1 struggled to contain his emotions on several occasions.
In his speech, Federer recalled his childhood hero, Stefan Edberg, and said the tears were “tears of joy.”He also became emotional while mentioning his longtime coach Severin Lüthi and his wife, Mirka. Also Read:Federer to play in US Open exhibition event.
Thanking his wife, Federer said emotionally that he needed “everything from tissues to sunglasses” to help him keep his emotions under control. Federer was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, where he was also celebrated as the first player to win 20 Grand Slam singles titles.

During his illustrious career, Federer won Wimbledon eight times, the Australian Open six times and the French Open once. He is also one of only eight men in tennis history to complete a career Grand Slam by winning all four major tournaments.
