Trump says he is open to meeting Iranian president as tensions escalate

Trump Yingst that he was in “deciding mode” over Iran and warned that “very big things” could happen in the near future., Trump said the options under consideration included military action, continued economic pressure or reaching a deal with Tehran.
Trump also indicated he would “probably be open” to meeting Pezeshkian, who is due to attend the UN General Assembly in New York. The comments came amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran following months of conflict.
Trump has continued to warn Iran over its conduct while leaving open the possibility of diplomacy. Iranian officials have also signalled that diplomatic channels remain available. Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran had communicated conditions to Washington through mediators for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically important waterway.

The Strait has become a major focus of the confrontation, with disruptions affecting energy and commercial shipping in the Gulf region. Iranian President Pezeshkian has previously said Tehran does not want war but would not yield to pressure or intimidation. Whether Trump and Pezeshkian will meet has not been confirmed. No immediate response from Tehran was reported following Trump's comments.
