“Pakistan cuts petrol price by Rs5.45 to Rs369.06 per litre but raises diesel by Rs3.68 to Rs395.20 from Wednesday. ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal governmen…”

IISLAMABAD —The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs5.45 per litre while increasing the rate of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.68 for the next pricing period, offering motorists some relief while raising fuel costs for diesel consumers. on Tuesday, the new petrol price has been set at Rs369.06 per litre, down from Rs374.51.

Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has increased to Rs395.20 per litre from Rs391.52. The revised prices will take effect from midnight on November 4, with the notification specifying that the rates will remain applicable until the next revision.

The latest adjustment brings mixed relief for consumers, as petrol users will pay less for fuel, while diesel consumers will face an increase in their expenses. The reduction in petrol prices is expected to provide some relief to owners of motorcycles, cars and other petrol-powered vehicles, particularly those who rely on private transport for their daily commute.

However, the increase in diesel prices could create additional pressure on the transport and logistics sectors. High-speed diesel is widely used by heavy vehicles, buses, trucks, agricultural machinery and other commercial transport.

An increase in its price can raise operating costs for transporters and potentially add to the prices of essential commodities, as higher transportation expenses are often passed on to consumers. The fuel price revision comes as the government has pledged additional measures to ease the financial pressure on the public.

Earlier on Tuesday, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had directed relevant authorities to take steps to protect vulnerable sections of society and develop a gas supply plan for the coming winter. Speaking at a press conference, Tarar said the government's decisions reflected the Prime Minister's understanding of the difficulties faced by ordinary citizens.

He also stated that Rs15 billion in refinery profits had been passed on to the public, while profiteering by a small group in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) sector had been brought to an end. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the country had been dealing with the economic challenges arising from the conflict that began on February 28.

He noted that international oil prices had declined and expressed hope that the movement in the global market would bring further positive developments for consumers.
