The dispute began in August after Hezbollah and Amal supporters sought to display their respective flags in the village. Hezbollah supporters later raised an Iranian flag at a house, prompting Nabatieh prosecutor Najat Abou Chacra to order both sides to remove the flags within 10 days.
Lebanese law bars the display of foreign flags on public or private property,. The case follows other recent moves by Lebanese authorities against prominent Iranian political symbols. In June, Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar ordered banners thanking Iran and showing Iranian leaders removed from the road to Beirut airport.
