The incident occurred after Fatima dismissed Indian batter Shafali Verma and gestured towards the pavilion as the player walked off the field. The ICC found Fatima guilty of a Level 1 breach and imposed a fine of 10% of her match fee.
She was also handed one demerit point for the violation., the Pakistan captain admitted the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, meaning there was no need for a formal hearing. The latest penalty takes Fatima’s tally to two demerit points during the past 24 months.
She received her first demerit point on August 6, 2025, during a T20 International against Ireland in Dublin. The disciplinary action followed Pakistan’s heavy defeat against India in the Asia Cup. Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first but struggled against the Indian bowling attack, being dismissed for just 55 runs in 18.1 overs.

India comfortably chased down the target in 8.4 overs, losing three wickets on the way to victory. Despite the defeat, Pakistan remain in contention for a place in the Asia Cup semi-finals. The national side is scheduled to face Hong Kong in its next match, with victory securing Pakistan a place in the semi-finals.
The upcoming contest will therefore be crucial for Fatima Sana’s side as they look to recover from the loss against India and keep their Asia Cup title hopes alive.
