LLAHORE —Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan, who scored an unbeaten century against England in a Tri-Nation Series match, has said his goal is to perform well with both bat and ball. Speaking to the media after the match at Gaddafi Stadium, Shadab said he would dedicate his century to his family and give them credit for the achievement.

He added that he could not hear the crowd during his innings because he was in a different zone. “My goal is to perform well with both bat and ball,” he said, adding that as a senior player, he was not concerned about the batting position and was simply pleased that he played a good innings.

Commenting on the comparison with Glenn Maxwell’s famous innings, Shadab said Maxwell’s knock was the kind of performance seen in a World Cup, while his own was a good innings in a series. He said the World Cup was still a long way off and he was not thinking that far ahead.

However, if selected for the tournament, he would try to help Pakistan win the World Cup. Earlier, during the post-match presentation, Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi praised Shadab and Haris Rauf, saying he had no words to describe what the two players had achieved.

He said he was pleased with their partnership. Shadab also credited Haris Rauf for supporting him throughout the innings. He said the conditions were different that day and England’s bowlers came under pressure.

“I am happy that my innings helped the team win,” Shadab said, adding that he realised from the conditions that the bowlers could come under pressure.
