Pakistan pacer Mohammad Abbas makes big move in ICC Test Rankings

Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel has gained big, his second-innings 97 lifting him 15 places to 18th. He is now the second-highest ranked batter from his country behind captain Babar Azam, who has slipped five places to 15th position.

England fast bowlers Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue continue to be on the ascent in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings after spearheading their team to a decisive 2-0 lead over Pakistan in the Test series. Robinson, Player of the Match in both Tests, grabbed four wickets in each innings to finish with impressive match figures of eight for 35.

He is now fifth, just a slot below a career-best fourth position achieved in February 2023. His latest gain of six slots means he has progressed 22 places since the start of the series. Tongue picked up five wickets in the match to move up four places to a career-best 13th position, 20 places up in the series.

England’s Jordan Cox (up six places to 76th) and Dan Lawrence (up 10 places to 92nd) have also progressed in the batting rankings.

In the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, South Africa’s Dewald Brevis has attained a career-best fourth position, his scores of 75 versus Namibia and 75 not out and 41 against Zimbabwe in an ongoing tri-series in Windhoek lifting him six slots.

Namibia’s Jan Frylinck (up eight places to 98th) is another one to move up the batters’ list while Zimbabwe’s Brad Evans has advanced eight slots to 26th in the rankings for bowlers.
