Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has only about two weeks of wheat stocks left in its government warehouses as available reserves have dropped to 189,000 metric tonnes,. The province requires around 14,900 metric to…

The province requires around 14,900 metric tonnes of wheat every day, putting its current stocks at roughly 13 days of consumption, the data showed. K-P's annual wheat requirement stands at 5.436 million metric tonnes against local production of around 1.472 million tonnes, leaving an annual deficit of about 3.964 million tonnes.

The province therefore depends heavily on wheat supplies from outside sources to meet its requirements throughout the year. The declining government stocks have raised concerns over wheat availability, although officials said 225,000 metric tonnes of wheat from PASSCO was in the supply pipeline.

The additional consignment is expected to replenish provincial reserves and ease pressure on available stocks once it reaches K-P.
