DG ISPR confirms Pakistani troop presence in Saudi Arabia under Makkah Agreement
“Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has confirmed the presence of Pakistani troops in Saudi Arabia, saying the deployment dates back severa…”
Speaking in an interview with CNN, the military spokesperson said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had maintained longstanding defence ties, with Pakistani troops having been stationed in the kingdom for decades. Lt Gen Chaudhry said Pakistani personnel deployed in Saudi Arabia under the Makkah agreement belonged to different domains.
He said the longstanding defence relationship between the two countries continued to form an important part of their security cooperation. Pakistan has also recently reaffirmed its commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security.
In an earlier interview, the DG ISPR said Islamabad stood with the kingdom both diplomatically and physically and that Pakistan’s commitment extended to the protection of the holy sites in Makkah and Madinah.
