PM Shehbaz says govt taking steps to promote tourism across Pakistan

In his message on World Tourism Day, the prime minister paid tribute to tourists and all those associated with the tourism sector in Pakistan and around the world, appreciating their spirit of exploration, curiosity and discovery. He said breathtaking natural landscapes, ancient historical monuments, rich civilizational heritage and diverse cultural traditions were among the key attractions of tourism.

Pakistan, he added, was blessed with extraordinary natural beauty, a rich cultural and civilizational heritage, and numerous historical and religious sites, offering significant opportunities for tourism development. Shehbaz Sharif said the government was working to strengthen tourism infrastructure and create greater employment and socioeconomic opportunities for local communities and youth.

He said the government was committed to showcasing Pakistan as a safe, attractive and competitive tourism destination. The prime minister said Pakistan’s moderate climate, scenic mountain landscapes and picturesque valleys had immense potential to attract tourists from around the world.

He said Pakistan was home to thousands of years of ancient civilizations, including the Indus Valley and Gandhara civilizations, as well as a rich cultural heritage. He added that the country also had historically significant and sacred sites for followers of Sikhism, Buddhism and other faiths, offering opportunities for religious tourism.

Shehbaz Sharif said the promotion of tourism could contribute to economic growth and strengthen ties among nations. At the individual level, he added, exposure to diverse cultures broadens horizons and helps enrich human potential. He further said promoting tourism and recreation reflected a commitment to healthy minds, positive pursuits and a balanced way of life.
