The senator claimed that the process to disqualify Sohail Afridi in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had begun. Speaking on Dunya News programme ‘Dunya Mehr Bokhari Kay Saath’, Vawda said he stood by every word of his recent press conference.

He warned that those speaking against Pakistan would face severe consequences and stressed that no province was anyone’s personal domain. The senator criticised the country’s democratic system, pointing to persistent public problems, including the deaths of children who fall into open sewers.

He questioned the benefits of democracy for ordinary citizens, arguing that while the system had been damaged by poor democratic practices, a better form of democracy was possible. Read More:Emergency in KP was inevitable amid alarming security situation, says Faisal Vawda.

Vawda clarified that rebooting democracy meant changing the system as a whole, rather than abandoning democracy. He said the democratic process would continue but required significant reforms and improved governance. Referring to the new team in KP, he said it would have 180 days to prove its effectiveness.

If the current team failed to deliver, better-performing individuals would be brought in, he added, emphasising that failure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not an option. Vawda also reiterated his earlier remarks about a possible ban on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming he had raised the prospect ten months ago and suggesting that his prediction could still prove correct.

Questioning PTI’s protest strategy, the senator put the number of participants in the party’s protest at around 600. His remarks focused on the need for systemic reform, accountability and measurable performance, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while renewing debate over the country’s democratic governance and political opposition.
