    Infectious Diseases Hospital in NIPA, PCR tests confirmed Mpox in three patients currently under treatment. One additional suspected case has been reported and test results are awaited. Of the three newly confirmed cases, two patients belong to interior Sindh and are a father and daughter.

    The third confirmed patient is a 46-year-old man from Karachi's Federal B Area. Officials said the final situation will be clear once the report of the suspected patient is received. With the latest cases, the total number of confirmed Mpox cases in the province has reached 40, including 13 from Karachi.

    Health experts said Mpox is a viral disease caused by a virus from the same family as the smallpox virus. The prominent symptoms include rash, painful or itchy lesions, fever, headache, body aches and fatigue.

    In some patients, lymph nodes in the neck, armpits or groin may also swell. The Mpox rash can appear on different parts of the body, including the face, hands, feet, mouth and throat. Some patients may not show any clear symptoms before the lesions appear.

    It can take up to 21 days for symptoms to appear after exposure to the virus.
