    Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Interior, NCCIA officials said a suspect arrested from Faisalabad was also found in possession of 195 active mobile SIMs, 16 smartphones and 81 ATM cards from different banks., the stolen biometric data and recovered SIMs were being used to carry out large-scale financial fraud against citizens.

    Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman 18 million fraudulent SIMs issued in the names of other individuals have so far been blocked, while telecom companies have collectively been fined Rs4.5 billion. Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Khurram Nawaz said during the meeting that citizens receive calls from fraudsters posing as courier company representatives every week.
