An SBP spokesperson said the reports regarding the alleged discontinuation of the Rs10 note were baseless and contrary to facts. The spokesperson clarified that the central bank has proposed introducing a new series of banknotes, but the proposal is currently under consideration by the federal cabinet.

No decision has been made to replace or discontinue banknotes of any denomination, the spokesperson said. He added that if a final decision was taken in this regard, the public would be officially informed through government and SBP channels.

The SBP further said that if any banknote is discontinued in the future, the public would be given sufficient time to exchange the notes. The central bank urged the public to rely only on official information issued by the SBP for updates regarding currency notes.
