Kashmiri leader Yasin Malik submitted a 25-page affidavit in a Srinagar court. Yasin Malik refused to fight his case further. He said he leaves the matter to God.
The Indian government has conspired to implicate him in a false case in an attempt to hang him after 36 years. Yasin Malik categorically denied the accusation of involvement in the 1990 Kashmiri Pandit woman Sarla Bhat murder case.
He said that it was not possible to plan or give instructions for the murder as he was injured 11 days before Sarla Bhat's murder. He wrote that he decided not to fight the case further in protest against political revenge.

Accepting a court sentence does not mean admitting guilt. Malik also challenged the basis on which he was linked to the case, referring to an alleged Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) note reportedly recovered near Bhat’s body.
In his affidavit, Malik alleged that Indian investigative agencies had asked him to develop relations with Pakistan but later used the matter as evidence against him. He maintained that the proceedings were politically motivated and said he did not expect a fair trial from the Indian judicial system.
Indian forces arrested Malik in Srinagar on April 10, 2019. He was subsequently accused of involvement in the alleged abduction and murder of a nurse in 1990.
