Faran Tahir returns to Marvel after 18 years

“Pakistani-American actor Faran Tahir has returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after 18 years, reprising his role as villain Raza in the sixth episode of Marvel Studios' series 'Vision. Quest', brin…”
Quest', bringing back a character last seen in the franchise's first film. Tahir first appeared as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar in 'Iron Man' (2008), where he played a militant leader who kidnapped Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. The character was subsequently presumed dead after Obadiah Stane, portrayed by Jeff Bridges, turned against him.
Raza's return was announced in January 2025, surprising fans who had not seen the character since his debut. His reappearance in 'Vision. Quest' brings the former antagonist back into the franchise with a different look and an apparent change in his line of work.
In the sixth episode, Vision, played by Paul Bettany, travels to Madripoor to rescue Thomas Shepherd, also known as Tommy Maximoff, his reincarnated son from 'Wanda. Vision'. Tommy has been taken hostage by bounty hunter Paladin, who plans to use him to lure Vision into his grasp.

The confrontation takes an unexpected turn when Raza arrives with a heavily armed group, intending to capture Vision. However, his involvement is brief, as Paladin knocks him unconscious during the encounter. Despite the setback, Raza remains a potential threat in the Marvel universe.
The character has also undergone a noticeable transformation since 'Iron Man'. Once associated with the Ten Rings organisation and operating in Afghanistan, Raza now appears to be working as a bounty hunter in Madripoor, serving a mysterious client seeking Vision.
His new appearance includes a sharp suit instead of military fatigues and an earpiece that appears designed to protect him against high-frequency attacks, recalling the device Stane used against him in the original film. Created by Terry Matalas, 'Vision.
Quest' follows the resurrected android Vision as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery after the events of 'Wanda. Vision'. The series also explores artificial intelligence through the personas embedded in Vision's programming.
