The decision has been taken in view of the federal government’s ongoing austerity campaign, under which public institutions are being encouraged to reduce unnecessary use of petroleum products., meetings of all standing committees will now be conducted virtually. However, meetings of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will continue to be held at the Punjab Assembly Secretariat in Lahore.
Sources said that officers posted in areas outside Lahore will participate in Public Accounts Committee meetings through online platforms. The arrangement is intended to reduce travel requirements and cut expenditure on petroleum products. The decision has been taken in view of the federal government’s ongoing austerity campaign, under which public institutions are being encouraged to reduce unnecessary expenses.
Officials believe that conducting committee meetings online will help save fuel costs and minimize travel-related expenditure while ensuring that parliamentary proceedings continue without disruption.
