PTI mulls delaying Islamabad march over fears of clashes

They said the federal government had made extensive preparations to prevent the procession from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from proceeding. The committee members reportedly agreed to postpone the September 27 protest. However, two proposals were discussed regarding a new date, with one suggesting October 5 and the other October 10.

They said the party would now engage in a “battle of nerves” with the federal government and expressed a desire for people to rise against the centre on their own. Party sources further said that the final decision on the date of the protest would be taken at another meeting of the political committee scheduled for the evening.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said consultations had been held on the possibility of imposing governor’s rule in the province, while pointing out that the Constitution provides for such a measure. Speaking to reporters in Peshawar, Kundi said the possibility of governor’s rule could not be ruled out.
His remarks came as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepared for a nationwide protest and a planned march towards Islamabad. “Consultations have taken place for governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the governor said, adding that the Constitution allows for its imposition.
