Consumers in several localities complained of repeated outages during the night, while technical faults in the distribution network added to their difficulties. Sources said the situation worsened after sunset, with some Lahore neighbourhoods experiencing power cuts of 30 minutes to an hour at a time.
In rural and border areas, reports suggested that electricity was being switched off for about an hour after every hour of supply. The situation was more severe on high-loss feeders, where load-shedding reportedly lasted between two and six hours.
Restoration of supply has not always brought relief to consumers, as transformer faults, jumper failures and other technical problems have caused further interruptions, sources said. They attributed the outages to a combination of reduced generation due to limited LNG availability and weaknesses in Lesco's distribution infrastructure.

Daytime electricity demand in the Lesco region is estimated at 3,500-3,700 megawatts, helped by solar generation. At night, however, demand climbs to about 5,200MW as solar systems stop producing electricity. The resulting gap between supply and demand, coupled with technical weaknesses in the distribution network, has contributed to continued power disruptions,.
