Centre completes preparations for possible emergency, governor's rule in KP: sources

Lists of proposed postings for regional and district police officers have also been prepared. A proposal to initially impose an emergency in 12 districts of the province is also under consideration, sources said. However, the decision to impose an emergency or governor’s rule will depend on the outcome of talks between government and opposition delegations, they added.
If negotiations involving the federal government and opposition parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), succeed, the proposed measures will not be implemented. Federal cabinet members have reportedly been advised to remain in Islamabad amid deliberations over the possible imposition of governor’s rule or an emergency in KP.Sources said a federal cabinet meeting was expected to be convened soon.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and senior military officials are also expected to attend this meeting, where reports from national security institutions will be reviewed. Meanwhile, the PTI has convened meetings of its central and core committees at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar.

The meeting will be chaired by PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and attended by senior party leaders, including Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan and Junaid Akbar., participants will discuss the party’s long march, negotiations with the government, and the possibility of governor’s rule or an emergency in the province.
