This was informed during a meeting chaired by Minister for Pakistan Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi to discuss the performance and affairs of the railways on Saturday in Lahore. The minister directed the installation of modern CCTV cameras and deployment of private security personnel at all railway workshops and yards to strengthen security arrangements.
He directed that advance planning be made mandatory to ensure transparency, efficiency and improvement in the railway system while private vendors causing delays in the delivery of goods should be blacklisted immediately. He also announced a zero-tolerance policy against theft of railway scrap and spare parts.
He said all stakeholders would have to work collectively to achieve the revenue targets set for the current financial year. He also directed that locomotives undergoing repairs be brought back into service.
