NNAGOYA —Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem finished fourth in the men’s javelin throw at the 2026 Asian Games on Monday, missing out on a podium place despite producing an 80.29-metre effort. Nadeem opened the competition with a throw of 76.69 metres.
His second attempt was recorded as a foul before he improved significantly with his third throw, sending the javelin 80.29 metres. The Pakistani athlete was unable to improve his mark in his remaining three attempts, with all three recorded as fouls.
His 80.29-metre effort ultimately left him fourth in the final standings. Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage won the gold medal with a throw of 88.55 metres, while India’s Yash Vir Singh took silver with 85.72 metres and compatriot Rohit Yadav secured bronze with 84.35 metres.

Nadeem had entered the competition as one of the leading contenders after recording a personal best of 92.97 metres at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he won the gold medal. World Athletics lists that throw as his career best.
The Asian Games final featured 14 athletes, with Pakistan represented by Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir. Nadeem's season-best mark before the Games was listed at 81.49 metres.
