The meeting, held at the Prime Minister House, was attended by federal ministers and senior officials. The participants reviewed the overall law and order situation across the country, with particular focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa., Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the meeting on the security situation.
The participants also reviewed PTI’s announcement of a long march and ongoing backchannel contacts. Barrister Gohar says protest only option to get founder released. Sources said views were sought on Articles 233 and 234 of the Constitution in the context of the situation in KP.
Prime Minister Shehbaz is also expected to meet President Asif Ali Zardari, during which possible constitutional measures regarding the province may be finalized. Federal ministers alleged that the KP government was pursuing political objectives and was not providing institutions with the required support against the threat posed by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The KP Chief Minister’s House rejected the allegations, saying the federal government could take any measures but the long march would take place. Meanwhile, PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai had written to party chairman Barrister Gohar Khan a day earlier, requesting that the long march be postponed.
