LLAHORE —The Punjab Home Department has imposed a 30-day ban on outdoor drone flights across the province under Section 144, citing security concerns. Under the notification, drones will not be permitted for outdoor use during the restriction period.
However, limited use of small drones for covering events inside halls and marquees will be allowed, with event organisers responsible for ensuring their safe operation. Intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the restriction.
The Home Department has also established district-level Safe Drone Usage Committees to issue written permissions for approved drone operations. The committees will consider requests involving safe drone use for agricultural, irrigation and research-related activities. Drone operations covered by written permission from the relevant committee will remain exempt from the restrictions.

The ban has been imposed by the Punjab Home Secretary under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. Provincial authorities and police have been directed to ensure full implementation of the order across Punjab.
