LHC seeks arguments on maintainability of Aleema Khan's detention plea

Justice Abher Gul Khan heard the petition filed by Aleema Khan’s son, Shah Zair. Barrister Taimur and advocate Irfan Kalar appeared on behalf of Aleema Khan, while lawyer Rana Mudassar Umar also presented arguments before the court.
During the hearing, Justice Abher Gul Khan questioned how the petition had been filed without first approaching the relevant forum. Rana Mudassar Umar argued that Aleema Khan’s detention was different from other cases.
He said the detention review and detention notification were issued on the same day, suggesting that she may have been arrested before the detention order was formally issued. The lawyer further argued that the detention report referred to Aleema Khan’s alleged involvement in the May 9 incidents and expressed concerns that she could again block roads.

He Khan had already been cleared in the investigation into the May 9 case, questioning how the incident could subsequently be used as a basis for her detention. The court also asked whether bail had been granted in all cases against Aleema Khan.
Her lawyer replied that bail was still pending in two or three cases. Justice Abher Gul Khan noted that a full bench of the high court had directed petitioners to first approach the relevant forum.
The judge also asked whether the order had been challenged before the Supreme Court. The lawyer sought additional time to prepare his arguments. The court subsequently adjourned further proceedings until September 25.
