Speaking to the media, Memon said the main objective of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march was to secure the release of the party’s founder. He said that had PTI workers protested as political activists, the events of May 9 would not have occurred.
The minister alleged that PTI protests had involved violence, resulting in the deaths of police personnel and damage to public and private property. He also expressed concern over the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Memon further alleged that the provincial government had shown leniency towards terrorists. He maintained that political parties have the right to protest, but demonstrations must remain peaceful and within the bounds of the law.
