Sindh crucial to growing America-Pakistan ties, says US consul general

The reception, organised under the “Freedom 250” campaign, brought together representatives of the government, business community, academia, civil society, media, diplomatic corps and US exchange programme alumni. Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah attended as chief guest, while Sindh Governor Syed Nehal Hashmi was the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Hashmi underscored the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in education, technology, creativity and entrepreneurship. Joined the “Freedom 250” reception hosted by U.S. Consul General Karachi Charles Goodman to commemorate 250 years of American independence.

Speaker Shah congratulated the United States on its 250th anniversary and highlighted the contribution of Pakistan-US cooperation to Sindh in education, economic opportunity and cultural exchange. He expressed confidence that bilateral collaboration could be expanded further in a sustainable manner.

President Trump launched the celebration under the banner, “A New Era of American Greatness,” which was carried forward by the US embassies and consulates across the globe. The Karachi event also featured the theme “The American Brand”, highlighting American innovation, enterprise, and creativity.

The celebration also paid tribute to the foundational ideals of July 4, 1776, and echoed President Trump’s emphasis on America’s lasting principles while reaffirming Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker’s message that a strong Pakistan benefits America, and a strong America benefits Pakistan.
